Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Wedding | Christina & Ashish’s Indian Fusion Celebration

Christina and Ashish’s Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh wedding was the kind of weekend that reminds us why we love what we do. Thoughtfully planned, joy-filled, and deeply rooted in culture and family. Their Indian fusion celebration blended Indian, Chinese, and American traditions. It was a weekend that honored their cultures, their families, and the communities that shaped them.

From crisp fall colors to thoughtfully curated design moments, every detail was flawlessly brought to life by their planner, Nishat of Detales Planning, alongside Ashlyn and the incredible team at the Wyndham Grand, creating a celebration that felt seamless from start to finish.

Getting Ready at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh

Christina and Ashish began their wedding day in separate suites at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown, right in the heart of the city.

Christina got ready in the stunning Skyview Suite, one of our favorite spaces in the hotel. With floor-to-ceiling windows, sweeping city views, and beautiful natural light, it was the perfect setting for those final touches before the celebrations began.

Meanwhile, Ashish spent the morning relaxing and getting ready in a standard suite with his groomsmen. He says “Before the ceremony, people kept asking me if I was nervous, but I was honestly the most relaxed I have ever been. I just felt ready for the day and my life ahead with my best friend.”

The Barat: A Joyful Celebration in the Heart of Downtown

One of the most energetic and joyful moments of any Indian wedding is the Barat. Guests gathered as music filled the lobby at the Wyndham, and Ashish made his entrance surrounded by family, friends, and so much excitement.

This moment perfectly set the tone for the rest of the day. The energy was contagious, and it was impossible not to smile watching everyone dance their way toward the ceremony.

A Meaningful Indian Fusion Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony beautifully reflected Christina and Ashish’s shared cultures and values. Rich red tones, soft pink accents, and intentional décor choices created a setting that felt classic & welcoming.

Their love story began years ago in high school orchestra, and standing there surrounded by family who traveled from near and far felt like a full-circle moment. From heartfelt rituals to emotional reactions from loved ones, the ceremony was layered with meaning and connection.

Wedding Portraits Outside the Wyndham Grand

After the ceremony, we stepped just outside the hotel into the courtyard for portraits. One of the reasons we love photographing a Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh wedding is the convenience of this space. The tucked-away courtyard features tall trees and winding pathways, making it ideal for bridal party photos.

Portraits at Point State Park

Next, we headed to Point State Park for portraits with the Pittsburgh skyline and rivers behind them. When couples want to include this location, we always recommend building a healthy timeline. It’s a bit of a walk from the Wyndham, and we’re always mindful of city events and foot traffic. On this particular day, the park was beautifully quiet, and we had plenty of time for photos, making it the perfect setting for portraits.

With just the two of them, Christina and Ashish wandered through the park as the trees began to show their first hints of autumn. The fall light, crisp air, and skyline views created a timeless Pittsburgh backdrop. These portraits felt intimate and sincere. They are the kind of moments where you don’t need to direct much at all.

Skyview Suite Portraits Before the Reception

After a short break in the timeline, Christina and Ashish took time to refresh and change into their reception outfits. Instead of heading back outside, they chose to stay indoors.

Matthew got creative with off-camera flash and a softbox. The Skyview Suite quickly transformed into a studio-like setting with dramatic, polished portraits.

An Unforgettable Reception in The King’s Garden Ballroom

During our portrait time, Nishat & the Detales team transformed the ballroom with a stunning stage featuring drapery, candlelight, and a chaise, complemented by romantic candle accents and florals in red, white, and pink throughout the space. Chinese characters woven into the centerpieces honored Christina’s heritage, while a five-tier white cake with gold accents by Bethel Bakery served as a gorgeous focal point.

A Wedding That Truly Felt Like Them

As the reception unfolded, the evening was shaped by heartfelt moments and genuine connection. Toasts from their families were emotional. Outside the ballroom windows, fireworks lit up the sky — a completely unplanned moment that felt like the perfect punctuation to an already unforgettable evening.

Next, their first dance was one that guests will be talking about for years to come. With the lights dimmed, the DJ invited everyone to turn on their phone flashlights and sway along as dry ice rolled across the dance floor, creating a true “dancing on a cloud” moment. It was intimate & cinematic.

Throughout the night, Christina and Ashish made their way from table to table. It was important to them to spend genuine time with each guest before opening up the dance floor. After it did open, however, the celebration never slowed — the ballroom quickly filled with energy, laughter, and nonstop dancing as friends and family came together to celebrate their marriage.
