Lizzie & Adam’s October wedding at The Pennsylvanian was the perfect blend of romance, meaningful family moments, and iconic Pittsburgh architecture. From the moment we met Lizzie and her mom at a local bridal show, we felt an instant connection. It was clear right away how close this family was, which made documenting their day even more special.

Getting Ready with Family at The Pennsylvanian

The morning began with Lizzie surrounded by the women who mean the most to her. As a result, the getting-ready portion of the day felt relaxed, emotional, and full of genuine connection.
Meanwhile, hair and makeup were handled by Pretty Hair Salon, with Heather O’Toole creating a soft, polished makeup look and Kala Herak styling Lizzie’s hair to perfectly complement the overall aesthetic.
Planning and coordination were seamlessly handled by Olive & Rose Events, allowing the couple to stay present and enjoy every moment before their ceremony.

At the same time, Adam spent the morning with his dad & his groomsmen in the lobby of The Pennsylvanian. The grand space provided a classic backdrop as they shared laughs and took in the excitement of the day ahead. The couple chose to keep things traditional and did not see each other before the ceremony, which made the anticipation build leading up to their vows.

Why Couples Love Weddings at The Pennsylvanian
One of the main reasons Lizzie and Adam fell in love with The Pennsylvanian was its architecture. If you’ve ever been there, it’s easy to see why. Originally built as a historic train station, the venue features soaring ceilings, grand archways, and intricate details that feel dramatic and grand.

At the heart of the space is the iconic rotunda, where Lizzie and Adam exchanged their vows. Because of its scale and symmetry, the rotunda creates a breathtaking ceremony setting that feels grand, dramatic, and unforgettable.

As a result, the ceremony space photographs beautifully from every angle, making it one of the most striking wedding ceremony locations in downtown Pittsburgh.

Downtown Portraits at The Pennsylvanian
One of the biggest advantages of hosting a wedding at The Pennsylvanian is that there’s no need to travel for portraits. The venue sits in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh; everything you need is already right outside the doors.

For Lizzie and Adam, we utilized the areas directly connected to the building for their portraits. The surrounding walkways & classic stone details provided a variety of backdrops without ever leaving the property.

In October, the fall trees lining the venue added an extra layer of warmth and seasonal color. As a result, their portraits felt natural, elevated, and perfectly suited to a fall wedding in downtown Pittsburgh.

An Elegant Reception with Thoughtful Details at The Pennsylvanian
As the celebration moved into the reception space, the scale of the Grand Hall truly came to life. Alternating soft lighting & spotlights, EF Lighting helped to highlight the venue’s architectural features. As a result, the room felt dramatic yet inviting, creating an incredible atmosphere for dinner and dancing. Floral designs were put together by Donati’s. They added some color and texture. The cake, created by Moio’s Italian Pastry Shop, was a classic finishing touch that complemented the overall design of the reception. With its soaring vaulted ceilings, arched openings, and classic stone and marble details, the Grand Hall at the Pennsylvanian always makes an unforgettable impression!

Dinner, Dancing, and a Classic Pittsburgh Party
Once the celebration moved into the reception, the evening began with a beautiful first dance as Lizzie and Adam shared their first moments together as husband and wife.

Thoughtful toasts followed, offering heartfelt words and plenty of emotion from those closest to them.

The couple then shared a series of meaningful dances. Lizzie danced with her dad, while Adam shared a special dance with his maternal grandmother in honor of his late mother. It was a sweet and deeply touching moment that reflected the close family bonds present throughout the day.

As the night continued, music by Joe Costa kept the dance floor full, carrying the celebration late into the evening. We ended the night with a few dramatic night portraits! A perfect way to end the day with these two.
