Matthew had the privilege of assisting our good friend Jorge Santiago in photographing this vibrant traditional Indian wedding in Pittsburgh. It was an incredible celebration filled with color, culture, and meaningful traditions.

Indian weddings are known for their energy, symbolism, and multi-part ceremonies, and this day beautifully reflected that richness.
The Baraat
The day began with the Baraat, the groom’s wedding procession. The groom made his entrance on horseback while family and friends celebrated around him with music and dancing. The excitement and movement during a Baraat always create powerful, dynamic images. The colors throughout the morning set the tone for the rest of the celebration.

Traditional Hindu Ceremony
The ceremony took place beneath a beautifully decorated mandap. The gold and white floral design allowed the couple’s vibrant traditional South Asian attire to truly stand out. Every detail felt intentional and elegant.

Following the ceremony, we captured portraits at the Point in downtown Pittsburgh with the couple dressed in their traditional wedding garments. The city skyline paired beautifully with their attire, creating a strong blend of cultural tradition and Pittsburgh architecture.

Western Ceremony & Reception
After the traditional ceremony, the couple changed attire in preparation for their western ceremony. They utilized the Urban Room at the Omni William Penn for this portion of the day. A first look preceded the ceremony, allowing for a quiet moment together before the next celebration began.

The bouquets included a subtle pop of color that perfectly complemented the bridesmaids’ gowns.

One especially meaningful detail was recreating a photo with the bride and groom’s parents from their respective wedding days — a beautiful nod to family legacy.

It was truly a stunning Pittsburgh wedding filled with tradition, joy, and unforgettable moments.

The reception took place in the Grand Ballroom at the Omni William Penn Hotel. The room was classically decorated with white florals and gold accents, creating an elegant and timeless atmosphere for the evening celebration.
