This Carrie Furnace elopement was definitely a highlight of a tough year. The Covid-19 pandemic truly threw a wrench into the plans of so many 2020 couples.
Carissa and Douglas took everything in stride. Instead of postponing entirely, they chose to honor their original wedding date by eloping with a photo session at Carrie Furnace in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
They were drawn to the industrial character of Carrie Furnace, but also loved how nature has slowly begun to reclaim parts of the space. The combination of steel, texture, and greenery created the perfect backdrop for their vision — edgy, romantic, and uniquely Pittsburgh.

Carrie Furnace offers a dramatic setting unlike anywhere else in the city. The scale of the structures, layered textures, and open industrial spaces made every corner worth exploring. It was such a fun location to photograph, and we easily could have spent hours discovering new spots.
Here are some of our favorite images from their Carrie Furnace elopement.

To make the day even more meaningful, Carissa and Douglas held a private Zoom ceremony where they exchanged their vows. It was intimate, heartfelt, and a beautiful way to celebrate their commitment during an unpredictable year.
