Mary and Andrew’s winter wedding at The Pennsylvanian was a beautiful, snowy celebration. Their reception was paired with a ceremony at the classic Heinz Memorial Chapel.

Ceremony at Heinz Chapel
Mary and Andrew were married at Heinz Chapel in a traditional Protestant ceremony. With its dramatic height and stained glass windows, Heinz Chapel provides a breathtaking backdrop for winter ceremonies. Their service included Scripture readings, a short message from the pastor, a hymn, vows, rings, and a joyful recessional.

Mary had specifically mentioned loving wide architectural shots of the sanctuary, and a mixture of close and wide perspectives during the ceremony. We made sure to capture both emotional expressions and the full grandeur of the chapel.

Portraits in Oakland and Downtown
After chapel portraits, we incorporated locations around Oakland, including the Cathedral of Learning and surrounding architecture. The winter light added a softness that complemented the classic feel of the day.

Later, we photographed the wedding party beneath the arches at The Pennsylvanian, one of the most iconic architectural features in Pittsburgh. The combination of historic stonework and warm lighting creates a dramatic setting, especially during the winter months.

Reception at The Pennsylvanian

The Pennsylvanian provided an elegant backdrop for their reception. Guests gathered for cocktail hour before Mary and Andrew made their grand entrance into the grand hall.
Music played an especially meaningful role throughout the evening. Mary and Andrew, along with several of their family members, are very musical, and that love of music was woven into the celebration. At one point during the reception, the bride’s siblings surprised everyone with a flash mob performance of “One Day More” from Les Misérables. It was incredible to witness. Guests were completely captivated, and the energy in the room shifted from surprise to full celebration within seconds.

In addition to the flash mob, Mary and Andrew also joined a few siblings to sit in and play one tune with the big band. It was such a personal and memorable part of the evening.

Later in the evening, we stepped outside to capture nighttime portraits beneath the arches of The Pennsylvanian. The historic architecture feels especially dramatic in the winter, and the evening light created a beautiful, timeless atmosphere.
