Yehuda & Yael – A Private Lake Latonka Wedding

One of the few weddings we were able to photograph in 2020 was this Yael & Yehuda’s beautiful Jewish Orthodox wedding at a private residence in Lake Latonka, Pennsylvania. Orthodox weddings are also some of my favorites to photograph. They are full of energy, excitement, and tradition. There are so many special moments to capture.

We started off the day with the first look between Yael and her father. It was the first time he was able to see his beautiful daughter in her bridal gown.

Due to covid, this couple was only able to have a small group attend their wedding. That didn’t stop the celebration of all the traditions of an Orthodox wedding. Yehuda started his day with the Tisch. He was seated between his father and the bride’s father and surrounded by the rabbis, male relatives and friends.  Prayers were offered, the Ketuba was signed, and songs sang. It is a most joyous time.

After the Tisch, it was time for the veiling ceremony, also known as the Bedeken. Yehuda was escorted by his father as well as Yael’s to see his bride.

This is one of my favorite parts of the day. Everyone sings with jubilation for the couple. The groom then veils the bride to prepare her for the huppah ceremony.

The bride is then offered many blessings.

The groom is then danced out of the Bedeken to prepare for the Huppah ceremony.

A few of my favorite shots from under the beautiful flower-draped Huppah.

We had a wonderful time celebrating with these two!
