Lauren and Nick’s outdoor summer Shannopin Country Club wedding took place on a beautiful August day in Pittsburgh. The weather truly could not have been better, and it set the tone for a relaxed and joyful celebration. We had the pleasure of bringing along our friend Heather of Weddings by Heather to photograph alongside us. It was so fun having her there and seeing the different creative perspectives throughout the day.
Getting Ready at the Sheraton Station Square
The day began at the Sheraton Station Square, where the bridal party got ready. Heather and I stayed with the girls and captured some beautiful moments during prep. I especially loved Heather’s close-up shot of Lauren’s lashes.
Lauren looked absolutely stunning. It is always interesting to see how different photographers interpret the same setup. For example, in this moment, we captured both a dramatic silhouette and a close-up portrait. Two completely different approaches, both equally beautiful.
I also love catching reflections in mirrors. While we were waiting for the elevator, I photographed Lauren glancing down at her bouquet. It was such a quiet, natural moment.
Meanwhile, Matthew was with the guys capturing their preparation. One of my favorite images from that time was Nick opening his gift from Lauren.
A Private First Look
Lauren and Nick chose to have a private first look, which Matthew, Heather, and I all documented from different angles. It was completely perfect.
Matthew captured a great image of Nick patiently waiting. When Lauren approached, the emotion was immediate and genuine. These first look moments always bring such a calm energy to the day.
Pittsburgh Skyline Portraits
Lauren really wanted the Pittsburgh skyline included in their wedding photos, so we headed to Mt. Washington for portraits. The sky that afternoon was incredible, and the breeze added beautiful movement to Lauren’s veil. Matthew and Heather both captured great images of the veil catching the wind.
At one point, while I was adjusting my settings, Lauren playfully held her bouquet up as they leaned in for a kiss. I was thrilled to catch that spontaneous moment.

Outdoor Ceremony at Shannopin Country Club
We then headed to Shannopin Country Club for their outdoor ceremony. Summer weddings on the golf course provide a beautiful, open backdrop, especially in August when everything is lush and green.
Matthew photographed the sweetest moment of Nick tearing up during the ceremony.
Lauren had also incorporated a meaningful detail: the couple had wedding photos of each of their parents displayed at the ceremony. It was such a thoughtful tribute. We snagged them to take a cute snapshot.
Reception Celebration
After the ceremony, the celebration continued inside at Shannopin Country Club. Matthew, Heather, and I had fun photographing the reception details before guests entered.
The toasts were emotional and heartfelt.
After the formal dances, DJ Digital Dave got the party started. If you are looking for a high-energy, nightclub-style DJ, he definitely kept the dance floor packed all night.
The candid dance floor photographs are always some of my favorites. There is so much genuine laughter and movement once everyone relaxes and celebrates.
We ended the night with a grand sparkler exit. It was full of emotion and energy, and it remains one of my favorite images from the entire day.
We had a wonderful time documenting Lauren and Nick’s wedding and are so grateful they chose us. We wish them many happy years together.
