Jessica and David’s Leatherwood Mountain Resort wedding was a beautiful destination celebration in the North Carolina mountains. We always love traveling for weddings, and this one was especially meaningful since David is my cousin. Spending the weekend at the resort with family and friends was a wonderful experience.

Leatherwood Mountains Resort offers secluded cabins, rolling mountain views, and a peaceful setting that feels perfect for a rustic wedding weekend. The property, known for its equestrian atmosphere and mountain landscape, created a breathtaking backdrop for their celebration.

A Rustic Mountain Celebration
Because the venue is a horse farm nestled in the mountains, Jessica embraced a rustic country theme. The setting and décor complemented each other beautifully.

Jessica wore a stunning Maggie Sottero gown that fit the mountain elegance of the day perfectly.

One of the most emotional moments was the father-daughter first look. I asked her dad if he remembered the first time he held Jessica in his arms. Through tears, he nodded. There truly was not a dry eye in the room.

A Kleenex tearjerker moment for sure!

Meanwhile, Matthew spent the morning with David and the groomsmen at their cabin, capturing relaxed moments filled with laughter.

A Valley Ceremony at Leatherwood Mountains Resort
We experienced a brief weather scare as scattered storms rolled in, but the sun broke through just in time for the ceremony. Their vows took place in the valley in front of one of the cabins, surrounded by the rolling landscape of Leatherwood Mountains Resort. The setting felt peaceful and intimate, perfectly suited for a mountain wedding weekend with family and friends nearby.

Portraits Nestled in the Heart of Leatherwood
One of the highlights was definitely portrait time. The property offers so much natural beauty, and we were able to take full advantage of it! From open fields to wooded areas, every corner felt peaceful and untouched.

We used the natural landscape to frame Jessica and David in a way that felt organic and true to the setting. The beautiful sunlit pond was a favorite spot!

Reception on the Horse Farm
The reception took place right on the horse farm at Leatherwood Mountains Resort, continuing the relaxed mountain atmosphere that defined the entire day. Guests gathered under the open sky and around the rustic setting, creating a warm and inviting celebration space.

There were a ton of DIY details that made this wedding so personal. I absolutely love it when couples infuse their personality into the décor and design. Every thoughtful touch reflected Jessica and David’s style and the meaning behind their day.

When it was time for their first dance, the mountain air had turned a little toasty, but these two did not care one bit. They swayed together, completely wrapped up in the moment. It was one of those dances where the world seemed to fade away, and all that mattered was the two of them.

The toasts were especially touching. Tears flowed as stories were shared and memories revisited. You could easily see how loved this couple is.

The parent dances followed and brought even more emotion to the evening. Each parent had pride and love written all over their faces. Tears and smiles were shared as families officially joined together.

As the night went on, the dance floor stayed lively, laughter filled the air, and the mountain setting felt even more magical.

To end a perfect night of dancing and celebration, family and friends lined up for a sparkler exit — the perfect send-off for this Leatherwood Mountain Resort wedding.
